Dear Friend,

We are witnessing the end of parameters, standards, and foundation stones which have stood for all of recorded history. And it appears another may fall in a very short time…

Word for the Month & for Friday, May 1
Scripture: 2 Peter 3:17

Even before Massachusetts became the historic definition of marriage, as between a man and a woman, I had said that apart from God’s intervention, apart from a national revival, the ending of marriage as we know it would spread across the nation and become the law of the land. We are now standing at the precipice where it appears likely that very shortly, this will become a reality.

At the start of 2015, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a case challenging the last defense of marriage as we know it. Just a few months earlier, it had refused to hear a case that could have preserved the biblical definition of marriage. In a short time, that refusal caused the number of states endorsing gay marriage to go from 17, a distinct minority, to 37, a distinct majority.

It looks as if in June, the Supreme Court will hand down its decision. That decision will likely mean the decisive end of marriage as we have known it. That will not be the end of the issue. Once this occurs, not only will America have fully established and institutionalized gay marriage, but will have established homosexuality as well. All that which has restrained the advocacy of homosexuality, from the judicial system, public education, and culture will be decisively removed. As government officially embraces and aligns itself with the advocacy of homosexuality, it will increasingly cut off any dealings with any group that opposes it. This will lead to the further disestablishment of the Word, the Gospel, and the people of God. And if, even before this moment, we are seeing increasing signs of persecution, how much more will we see afterward.

It is worthy to note, that all this has taken place in the biblical year of the Shemitah. The Supreme Court’s refusal to take up the case this past autumn, which reverberated across the nation took place in October just as the Shemitah began. The Supreme Court’s coming decision most likely will take place this June, in the midst of the year of the Shemitah. For those who haven’t read “The Mystery of the Shemitah,” the word “shemitah” in Hebrew can refer to the year of the “release.” But it can also be translated as referring to the year of the ‘fall.’ When America took another critical step in its fall from God, the legalizing of the killing of its unborn children, it happened in 1973, another year of the Shemitah.

I believe that when, not if, America ends the biblical definition of marriage, calls sin “good,” and what is righteous, “hateful,” it will have crossed a critical line with regard to God.

Is there hope? As long as there’s a God, there’s hope. But I believe, at this stage, it will take a dramatic intervention, a shaking, and a true revival for hope to manifest. Let us pray fervently for that revival. For the future of this nation depends on it. And not only pray for revival, but this month take steps to actually live and walk in revival. For revival begins with us. And may the Lord greatly bless you as you do.
